This phrase subtly captures the core function of the concept within Moroccan craftsmanship. we suggest a dynamic, organic relationship between the maalem's creativity and the constraints and possibilities of the environment he transforms through his art.
Tghyera (تغيير) means “change” in Arabic.
But for Moroccan master artisans—maalem—it means much more. It's the essence of craftsmanship: the ability to adapt, to rethink tradition without betraying it. In their own words: “المعلم لي مكيعرفش لتغييرة ماشي معلم” Tghyera is founded on this principle. Born from years of learning zellige and traditional Moroccan arts at the Academy of Traditional Arts, it reflects an intimate understanding of how true mastery lies in subtle transformation adjusting a motif to fit space, function, and meaning, without losing its soul. We are mtaalemin and we work hand-in-hand with maalmin and creatives for the sole design to create objects that are culturally rooted yet responsive to today’s contexts. Every Tghyera piece blends inherited knowledge and adaptive design. It’s not reproduction. It’s evolution through discipline, tradition, and intelligent variation. Tghyera is not a brand that follows trends. It honors centuries of expertise and brings it forward. One pattern, one shape at a time.
Made from raw terracotta, shaped by hands using real Moroccan harfa.
The form blends the high quality tar mug (ghraf qtran) with the new monotile geometry. this cup blends function, design, and cultural memory. No machines, no copies, just hands and fire. Only 40 ghraf will exist. That’s it. Each one is slightly off ,in the best way. That’s the point. It’s not just a cup. It holds time, process, and place.
